Nugget and Fang are back! Nugget and Fang Go To School illustrated by Michael Slack is out now and has received praise from Kirkus. The book takes a journey through Nugget and Fang’s first day of school and the obstacles and anxiety Fang faces. Kirkus says the illustrations are “bright and colorful” and “Slack deftly portrays Fang’s every emotion”. “Readers will no doubt feel empathetic” for the relatable struggles Fang deals with. Kids will definitely love this Fang-tastic book!

Me and the Sky Illustrated by Joanie Stone, Receives Praise!

Joanie Stone’s debut illustrated picture book, Me and the Sky, (out September 10^th!) has already received excellent reviews from Kirkus and Booklist. This biography on Beverly Bass, the first female co-pilot of American Airlines and the inspiration for the character in the Broadway musical Come From Away, is a story of determination and passion. Kirkus says Stone’s “retro, cartoonish illustrations…evoke spirited enthusiasm” and her art is inspiring and well done because it “embraces people of color as well as of various ages”. And with Booklist calling her drawings “bright and optimistic” this book is sure to elevate anyone’s spirit!

My Shoes and I Illustrated by Fabricio Vanden Broeck, Receives Star From Kirkus

It’s back! My Shoes and I written by Rene Colato Lainez and illustrated by Fabricio Vanden Broeck has received a Starred review from Kirkus for its new bilingual version due to come out May 31^st 2019. Kirkus praises the thoughtful artwork, writing “Brush-stroked spreads depicting various landscapes—lush, green scenes, muddy trails, mountains, cities, the river—are reminiscent of Central American artwork often depicted on murals, souvenir trinkets, or postcards. Not until the last spread does Vanden Broeck finally unveil René’s smiling face in its entirety.”

Starstruck Illustrated by Frank Morrison Continues to Get Illuminating Reviews

Fun Filled Weekend for Sarah Dillard and Her Book I Wish It Would Snow

The last two weeks of February were full of snow much fun as Sarah Dillard’s I Wish It Would Snow, was showcased at the Mad River Glen Ski Area as the featured story for SkiStory. All the way down the mountain, pages from the book were hidden, allowing children to ski down the mountain safely, while also being able to enjoy the story. Our very own, Lori Nowicki got to experience the snowy mountain with Sarah Dillard. See below for pictures of their fun journey.

One little bunny had a big year! A Day In the Life of Marlon Bundo (Chronicle), illustrated by EG Keller made the #3 spot for the top selling hardback children’s books of 2018! 544,475 copies – over half a million! – were sold. Proceeds from book sales are donated to the Trevor Project, a suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth, and the AIDS charity AIDS United.
