Huy Voun Lee arrived in New York City at age six as a Cambodian refugee. She quickly developed a love for art, creating illustrations with a pair of kid's scissors, construction paper, and a tube of glue. Huy went on to study at New York's School of Visual Arts. Huy's vivid cut-paper illustrations have been featured in a range of picture books. She wrote and illustrated a series of books for Henry Holt & Co., incorporating chinese characters as part of the text to provide a first experience with the language. Her illustrations for Honk Honk Goose! were praised by Booklist in a starred review. She loves origami and creating art projects with children and she lives in Manhattan with her husband.
A fun read-aloud grounded by great informational back matter, Sayre's latest is one of a few picture books that give a nod to father goose...Lee's cut-paper-collage illustrations wonderfully complement the text.
